International Nurses Transitioning to Australian Registered Nurses
A unique pathway from support worker to RN — bridging global experience with Australia’s healthcare future

About the Australian RN Registration Transition Program

With Australia projected to face a shortage of over 123,000 nurses by 2030 (ANMF, 2023), the need for skilled healthcare professionals has never been more urgent. AA Associates offers an innovative, structured pathway for Internationally Qualified Nurses (IQNs) to become Registered Nurses (RNs) in Australia.

Work Now. Transition Later.
Our program allows international nurses to work as support workers or carers upon arrival, providing immediate value to residential aged care, disability, and community health sectors. Over the course of 18 months, participants progress toward full AHPRA registration, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and qualifications needed to thrive as an Australian RN.

How It Works

All incoming IQNs are enrolled in an 18-month Australian RN Transition Program, designed to:

  • Build deep understanding of Australian Aged Care Quality Standards
  • Strengthen clinical, communication, and governance competencies
  • Foster leadership and decision-making skills
  • Prepare for AHPRA and NMBA registration exams

Program Includes:

Pre-employment training and orientation

Full-time employment as a carer or support worker

Supervised professional development in clinical settings

English language support (as required)

Assistance with registration, documentation, and exams

Eligibility Note: Successful transition to RN status is subject to passing the NMBA exams and meeting English proficiency requirements.
